08.26.09: A True Story. By Allie Edwards.
jorges_monitor_small.pngIt was just your average Monday morning at Cactus. But for a Cuban designer named Jorge Lamora, it was a day he would not soon forget. For it was that day that little Jorgie received a shiny, new monitor for his humble desk. This was not your average monitor. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, and was tremendous in size. Our Jorge could barely contain his excitement. And everyone in Upstairsyland was buzzing about the screen's enormity.

That is until a young art director by the name of Matt Chiabotti came along and doubted the screen. "Why, that screen isn’t very big at all!” he remarked with disdain.

It would seem that the machine was displeased by this comment, because suddenly all the lights went out and a strong, inexplicable force felt throughout the entire building. Before he knew it, young Matt was sucked into the screen where he would spend the rest of eternity, paying for his words.

He now understood. But it was too late.

08.25.09: Denver Center Theatre Company poster series
Mama Hated Diesels DCTC poster
We took a fresh approach with the Denver Center Theatre Company by branding the entire upcoming season as a collection of curated shows, rather than one-offs for each play. The two-sided posters visually and verbally illustrate thought-provoking, parallel representations of plot summaries.

To reach a younger audience, we gave the series of classics a contemporary feel.  The 10-play drama series includes timeless masterpieces ("Othello," "A Christmas Carol," "Rasin in the Sun) and three world premieres (“When Tang Met Laika,” “Eventide,” and the series’ sole musical, “Mama Hated Diesels”).

Yesterday AdRants mentioned the poster series, although they forgot to include agency credits. Today, AdFreak picked it up, although the writer seems to really hate theatre, classic literature, and any other "high-brow crap." He seemed to like the posters well enough though. I think.

For more information about these shows and the DCTC, visit denvercenter.org.
