10.10.07: Helvetica screenings in Colorado

10.09.07: Social networking lessons learned
Target FacebookToday I came across a great article in AdWeek about social networking, both the good and the ugly. The article mainly focuses on Target's and Wal-Mart's back-to-school Facebook pages and also talks about McDonald's attempt at social networking. Some really great lessons learned by all of the examples. Food for thought on how we can even better take advantage of digital for our clients at Cactus .

10.09.07: Quit Doing It Labs recognized by industry
Quit Doing It LabsSince QuitDoingIt.com launched a couple weeks ago, it's garnered a lot of attention from industry peers. It all started when it won FWA Site of the Day last Monday. It's since been mentioned on various industry blogs including AdCritic's Top 20Advertainment, and  Adverblog, to name a few.

The site was designed to motivate young adult tobacco users to quit tobacco and to provide them quitting resources like FixNixer and the Colorado Quitline when they're ready to quit.

Cactus
collaborated on the concept, design and development of the site with Miami-based AgencyNet.

At QuitDoingIt.com, visitors welcomed into the Quit Doing It Labs, where employees work around the clock to create the most innovative tools to help people quit smoking for good.

The site employs 3D animation, green screen video and interactive elements.  The sleek white labs maintain a clean, modern design and the suggestive space creates a larger than life feel without boundaries.

10.08.07: Fantastical animated Own Your C TV spot launches
Today, our latest Own Your C TV spot started airing on statewide TV stations. C-tree is a whimsical animated commercial that reminds teens that "your choices create your world."

The C-Tree commercial is one component of the comprehensive Own Your C campaign, which takes a fresh approach to youth tobacco prevention and cessation.

Rather than focus solely on the topic of tobacco, the innovative campaign empowers Colorado youth to make educated choices and encourages them to own the consequences of those choices, good and bad.

The Own Your C TV campaign is intentionally eclectic. We strive to have a variety of styles and tones within our campaign to cater to the diverse tastes and interests of Colorado’s youth. Check out our recently launched Genie TV spot.

To bring the fantastical and surreal vision for C-Tree into reality, Cactus collaborated with Buck to produce the spot in an animated format.

09.27.07: Cactus adds four to advertising staff
We're growing. Fast. As you may have heard, Cactus has now expanded our advertising agency to both floors of our building on Little Raven. At first, there were a few open desks scattered throughout the building. And now?

Most of the desks are full. We've already hired several new people since the expansion this summer. In a news release we distributed this week, we announced that Cactus appointed Monica Casillas as account executive, Kristen Wheeler as media buyer, Chris Baszto as media coordinator, Collin Varner as event coordinator and Kate Mistler as controller.

We've also hired Kathy Janovich to man front-office operations and Greg Cotten as copy writer. They'll get announced in a press release after they endure their first rigorous foosball tournament and submit quotes worthy of being included in our weekly quotes list -- we hire only the most qualified employees here at Cactus.
