12.08.09: Denver 50 is Thursday
Join us on Thursday to review Denvers top 50 advertising ideas, and enjoy a round on Cactus.

The New Denver Ad Club will celebrate Colorado’s creative industry and the ideas it has produced in the last year, by hosting the 3rd Annual “The Denver 50” awards show Thursday at The Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver.

Hundreds of advertising and marketing campaigns were submitted by Colorado agencies including Cactus, Cripsin Porter and Bogusky, Karsh\Hagan and TDA. The work was judged by three world-class judges, and narrowed to only 50 campaigns – or ideas – that will be recognized at the show.

The Denver 50 judges:
•    Rick Boyko, Managing Director of Virginia Commonwealth University Ad Center, former CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide
•    Joe Duffy, Founder of Duffy & Partners (Minneapolis)
•    John Vitro, Partner and ECD at VitroRobertson agency (San Diego, Los Angeles)

The top 50 ideas will be on display for viewing at the show and each attendee will take home a memorable “Top 50” printed book featuring this year’s winners. And, as an added bonus, Cactus is buying two drinks for each show attendee.

The event is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.newdenveradclub.com.

12.08.09: Ad2 Creative Kick-off at Cactus Tonight
Ad2 DenverLooking to brave the cold and be part of something something special tonight?

Ad2 Denver is producing a campaign for Project Sanctuary – a non-profit that provides recreational therapy for our military personnel to renew and strengthen connections with their families. Along the way, we’ll be creating a new brand identity, Web site, viral video, print ads, radio spots and collateral. Needless to say, Ad2 needs creative help, pronto.

Tonight, Ad2 is holding a creative kick off meeting at Cactus (2128 15th St) @ 6pm. A creative brief will be given, and we’ll set up teams based upon expertise.  If you already have a partner or team in mind, that's great. If you come solo, we can match you up with a team. You’ll be given ONE WEEK to concept, and we’ll reconvene on 12/15 to critique and select winning concepts.

What's in it for you, you ask? Aside from boosting your good karma, you’ll get to meet cool new people, contribute to worthy projects, and create some work for your book in the process. Oh, and we’ll be serving pizza and you’ll be sent home with a six-pack of Amp energy drinks to keep you wired throughout the week. It's a win-win-win.

05.11.09: ADCD Presents Adult Swim on Thursday
Adult SwimIf you haven't heard of Adult Swim - you need to check them out. Then meet two of 'em in person at ADCD's event this Thursday. Here are the event details courtesy of ADCD Graffiti :

Recent years have seen animation roar back into the spotlight as the courageous Adult Swim gravitates this world away from Saturday morning to Saturday nights. Titles today like Fullmetal Alchemist, Sealab, Cowboy BeBop, and Robot Chicken have introduced this new era with creativity, style, and a little sass.

We’re thrilled to announce our May speaker will be a team from Adult Swim. Creative Director Jacob Escobedo and “Bump Man” Michael Cahill will be speaking at an ADCD event, Thursday May 14. Their presentation will cover all things past, present and future for the powerhouse network.

It’s happening at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. ADCD members and RMCAD students (with ID) are free. Non-members are $20 and students are $15. Seating is limited-big time. Get tickets to this event while you can.
