12.19.08: Westwood College ads in the news
Changing BackgroundsThe good news - our work for Westwood College has garnered national attention in pubs like Brandweek. The bad news - Brandweek peer reviewer Neal Mendelsohn didn't bother to talk to us or our client to get the full story.

Luckily, the latest issue of Westwood College's Design Online magazine features an interview with our team about the work we've done for them in the past year as well as our future plans for our partnership with Westwood. Check out the story on page 18 of the online issue.

12.10.08: ownyourC.com is FWA Site of the Day
ownyourC.com
ownyourC.comownyourC.com, the hub of Cactus’ Own Your C campaign on behalf of the Colorado State Tobacco Education & Prevention Partnership (STEPP), has been awarded FWA (Favourite Website Awards) Site of the Day.

Developed in partnership with Agency Net, ownyourC.com is a rich online “choice-making” community that encourages teens to share their choices, connect with their peers and influence the conversation about the important issues teens face every day. In the first 60 days of launch, teens from over 100 countries have shared, connected and influenced each other at the new ownyourC.com.

As Site of the Day, ownyourC.com is in good company; sites for brands including Sony, M&Ms, Samsung and Jeep have also been recognized by FWA in the last month.

You can read more about the concept and development of the site from AgencyNet's perspective on their blog . Or, read more about the next generation of Own Your C here, here, here and here.

10.01.08: Cactus' work recognized by ad industry and lottery association
Brian_ADCDAt Cactus , we struggle with whether advertising awards are about agencies putting egos before clients' needs or if they're a benchmark of success put forth from professional peers. We don't pretend to know. But, we're grateful for winning awards because they've helped us get noticed by new clients and talented employees. So, when we're recognized the ad community, we're honored and humbled, and excited to see what that notoriety will bring our way.

Last week, Cactus was honored by two separate awards programs - the Art Directors Club of Denver (ADCD) and  the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL). At the ADCD Awards, Cactus was awarded with 15 awards, including Best in Show for "C-Tree" and Judge's Choice for "Genie," two Own Your C TV spots that promote healthy choice-making on behalf of the State Tobacco Education & Prevention Partnership's (STEPP) youth tobacco prevention program.
