03.20.08:
Yes Boss, I’m working |
NCAA.com "Boss Button"
The NCAA Tournament is arguably the best series of sporting in the nation, if not the world (the World Cup is only every four years). Working in an office with a bracket pool, this time of the year can be a trying time when it comes to getting work done. Based on a 2006 study by the Sacramento Business Journal, the over the period of the NCAA Tournament, employers will lose approximately $1.4 billions dollars in employee production.
Making things a bit more difficult for companies to keep their
employees on task, the NCAA has decided to offer free streaming video
of every game in the tournament through their On Demand site. But not
to fear fellow tourney addicts, because the NCAA media player has a
clever little feature built into the program to assure that your boss
will think that you are working the day away, even when you are not.
The “Boss Button” instantly turns your media player into a Excel
spreadsheet, making it seamlessly look like you are working away. I
have a feeling that this feature will come in handy for more than a few
employees over the course of the next 2 ½ weeks. It just means we are
either working harder during down times (when a #1 is playing a #16),
or we are putting in hours during some unconventional times of the day
(or night).
