09.27.07: We Likey Semacodes
H&M GizmodoRecently Gizmodo published a blog entry about semacodes being used on ads by H+M in Europe. The codes direct consumers' cellphones to a mobile version of the online catalog, where he or she can buy the clothing featured in the ad.

This seems like an impulse buyer's nightmare to me, kind of how I feel using On Demand, perpetually terrified I'm going to purchase an onslaught of pay-per-view movies.

Although I'm not sure I'd be inclined to buy a pair of jeans with my cellphone, the possibilities of semacodes seem endless to me, and I'm a bit bummed that we don't have them in America (at least yet).

09.06.07: Super-editor Carlos Arias
CarlosThere’s no denying that Carlos Arias is one of the most talented editors and nicest guys you’ll find anywhere.

Last year we found him in LA when we were lucky enough to have him pour his happy and happenin’ skills into our TV spots for our STEPPOwn Your C ” campaign. This year we found him in NYC, where we were once again blessed to have him putting his happy vibe and his expert editing skills to work on “Own Your C” TV, round two.

Carlos has a magical sixth sense for editing that enables him to take your spot to the next level with an inherent knowledge of which takes to use and precisely where to make a cut. Maybe it’s his oversized glasses. Or maybe he just works really really hard. Either way, he’s kind of like a editing superhero—only he doesn’t wear tights. (Thank you for not wearing tights, Carlos.)

So today we raise our glasses to Carlos, the most talented, non-tights-wearing superhero we know. Thanks for the love.

James Van Der Beek and HomerIn honor of this month's debut of "The Simpsons Movie" , we've been sharing our favorite Simpsons quotes at Cactus . What does this have to do with advertising? It gives a good laugh and "fosters our creativity". Here's our shortlist in no particular order.

Marge: Homer, is this how you pictured married life?

Homer: Yeah, pretty much, except we drove around in a van solving mysteries.
