We watched Will Ferrell’s Landlord film the other day on Ferrell’s site www.funnyordie.com. We also watched as it snagged over 15 million hits almost instantly. Top that off with the fact that the film isn’t even available on You Tube or other sites, you can only see it on Ferrell’ site. It’s a gasping-for-air hysterical piece for sure. The film is incredibly simple. It’s part of the trend of ‘consumer-generated’ home video style production. It has a refreshing spontaneous and fun vibe about it. Which makes the film not just fun to watch, but you get a sense that it was pretty fun for Ferrell and friends to make. Heck, what a cool way to spend the day with your daughter, “Hey, screw the zoo, let’s make a funny film that’s going to get 15 million hits on Daddy’s new web site in two days.” “ok dadda.” We also came across this great article in Forbes with the the Funnyordie.com founders if you want to read more.
