04.04.08: Humor your inner mathlete
funny-graphs-kellis-milkshake.gifSeeing as we are in the business of visual communication, I only felt it appropriate to spread the word about GraphJam.

GraphJam serves as an open forum for people to represent virtually any aspect of contemporary life in graph form. Don't knock it 'til you rock it. Check it out and feel your inner mathlete chuckle awkwardly.

funny-graphs-black-sheep-this-or-that.gifHere are some of my personal favorites. There's something about the combination of rough and rugged hip-hop and the ninja-like mastery of the graph that leaves a pleasant taste in my mouth, not entirely unlike the combination of Corona and fresh lime.

03.26.08: Toronto Blue Jays TV ads
I came across these new ads for the Toronto Blue Jays this morning, and thought they were cool. Plus they really got me fired up for the upcoming baseball season

While I’m not a Jays fan, I was definitely surprised to see some cool work done (considering the poor quality of the Rockies ads over the last couple years), and was particularly fond of the “Fishing” spot, which brought back some childhood memories. The third spot features Denver native and 2003 Cy Young Winner Roy Halladay, who played his early ball at Arvada West High School.

Hopefully, even if you aren’t a fan of the game, you will enjoy these spots.

03.11.08: Who is Clyfford Still?
Clyfford Untitled 1964Clyfford was an American Abstract Expressionist painter who, unlike most Abstract Expressionist painters, didn’t suck. He had an amazing eye for color and organic composition, and his work displays an energy and beautiful ferocity that few have been able to achieve.

When he died in 1980 he left a treasure trove of paintings, many never seen by anyone, that he and his wife decided should be preserved as a complete collection. So his wife announced that she would donate the entire collection to which ever city would build a museum dedicated to the collection.

03.07.08: Motivational Posters
11.jpgMy friend Collin came across these re-interpretations of corny corporate inspirational posters recently. I like them because they are soooo true, and hit me in that soft place I have for anything Star Wars- or Dinosaur-related. We are ordering a set for the board room now.dinowar.jpg
