| 07.10.08: Since July 1, 2006, the only thing missing has been the smoke |
According to the State Tobacco Education & Prevention Partnership (STEPP), air quality has improved in bars and taverns by 90 percent, and statewide anecdotal evidence indicates that the smoking ban has not resulted in a
decrease in business for most establishments since the Colorado
Clean Indoor Air Act went into effect July 1, 2006.And, according to an Associated Press article , the Centers for Disease control just released study results showing that fewer Americans are breathing secondhand smoke across the nation in general. These recent articles are music to our ears here at Cactus . We began working with the Colorado Tobacco Education and Prevention Alliance (CTEPA) and STEPP to gain support for the law, and then to implement and create awareness for it once it passed. Feels good to play a part in such an important change for our state. And, I still think the only thing missing is the smoke.
