07.12.07: Cactus (Worldwide) is growing fast
Cactus WorldwideToday Cactus Marketing Communications was recognized by the Denver business community as one of the Denver Business Journal's Fastest Growing Private Companies. We were named the 4th Fastest Growing Medium-Sized Company at the breakfast ceremony this morning. Our story will run in a special section in the Journal on Friday.

As Joe said in his acceptance speech, we attribute our agency's growth to the people who work here and the ideas they generate. We're also extremely grateful for the exceptional client partners we work with.

07.12.07: Sombrero 500
Sombrero RapidsEvery spring when the snow-melt is at its highest, and the water is at its coldest and wildest, my friends and I buy $6 rafts from BigLots, don whatever protective gear we can find and slip into the Platte River for the running of the Sombrero 500 -- a totally made-up race in which the one who floats the 12 miles from Bear Creek Park (aka Sombrero Park) to the rapids at the Platte River and Cherry Creek confluence (past Cactus) first, wins.

07.10.07: Simpsons movie creates buzz with Kwik-E-Marts
Kwik-E-Mart storefrontWe love "The Simpsons Movie " advertising and cross promotion strategy. Accoring to an Associated Press article , "7-Eleven turned a dozen stores into Kwik-E-Marts, the fictional convenience stores of "The Simpsons" fame, in the latest example of marketers making life imitate art. Those stores and most of the 6,000-plus other 7-Elevens in North America will sell items that until now existed only on television: Buzz Cola, KrustyO's cereal and Squishees, the slushy drink knockoff of Slurpees."

Even more, we love that one of the new Kwik-E-Marts is just 5 minutes away from Cactus . We had to see it for ourselves, and taste test some frogurt, so we took a field trip last Friday.

SmokeFree ColoradoYesterday marked the one year anniversary of the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act, which bans smoking in most indoor public places. You can read more about it in the Rocky Mountain News.
