| 11.03.07: Random Act of Cell Phone Arrives from Minnesota |
 Storks deliver babies, the internet delivers information, juries deliver verdicts and apparently FedEx distributes packages with anonymous brand new cell phones. When Cactus went to the National Conference on Tobacco or Health last week to show off our innovative tobacco cessation programs such as Own Your C and FixNixer we hoped to come back with some great ideas. While we came back with some great ideas, a perplexing package arrived yesterday along with conference materials; a brand new yet-to-be-activated cell phone. The plot continues to thicken. Ashley tried calling the number listed in the phone and received a perplexed response from a man in rural Wisconsin. No numbers have been dialed, no text messages sent. Ashley is certain that she sealed the package herself with materials only from the conference. Some ideas/reasons for how the phone got in there: 1) The FedEx guy reopened the package and than placed the cell phone in there knowing the confusion he would sow somewhere in Denver. (Even mailmen aren’t that crazy) 2) We are at the beginning of a complicated horror movie like plot in which we suddenly receive a phone call from a deranged man who may or may not be from Wisconsin. (The battery is dead) 3) John placed it in there and is quietly chuckling in his office watching the chaos unravel. (John has been way too busy to actually enjoy the prank) 4) It was accidentally left at the trade show and Ashley packed it in with all else. (Why would somebody bring an inactive, brand new cell phone to a trade show?) So now this is more of a plea, if you know anybody out there who lost this cell phone please come forward.
